personally i was abused as a child. seek therapy. if you cant afford it get a sponsor. talk to someone about it you will feel way better about yourself. dont quit therapy. as you continue to sort out problems pieces of your life will fall into place. make sure to find someone you trust.

The first thing that you can do is try to get closer to that family, and find out the degree of the abuse that is going on. If you are close to the abusive parent, you may actually be able to deter them from this behavior. Before you contact Child Protective Services, be sure that it is in the best interests of the child. Some slightly heavy-handed discipline will not be worth separating the child from his parents over. All the same, if a is parent vigorously beating or molesting the child, then that child needs to be removed from the situation as soon as possible. Hopefully, there will be another family member willing to care for the child, so that s/he doesn't have to enter the foster care system.
