You will be surprised at how pleased she will be to be included in the process. She may be very mature in her response, but even if her ideas seem a bit extreme, say hot pink and lime green, talk to her, tell her she will have to live with the result for at least three years, it may make her dial back her first thoughts.
And remember, if it turns out to be too much and neither of you can live with it, a coat of white paint will solve the problem.

∙ 15y agoThe best thing is to either ask or paint it solid white. My room is solid plain whitish cream and there are posters and pictures and candles everywhere. It depends on your teens style but go basic. My room was originally pink and now i hate the color pink so keep it basic in case they change there taste!

A very quiet and introspective person can be balanced by a lively colour. * Whether the room gets much bright sunlight. Warm yellow based colours can help make up for a lack of direct sunlight. Cool blues, lavenders and greens can reduce glare. * The size of the room. Dark colours can make large rooms more intimate, light colours can give a sense of space. * The furniture and ornamentation of the room. If the furniture, curtains/drapes and pictures and from a particular style, colours that compliment the style may be appropriate. A room with a lot of bare space may be better with a more intense colour than one that has a lot of objects already making it feel busy. * What the room is used for: sleeping, studying, exercising, meeting with friends? Colours that are more restful are good for sleeping areas, and may help a student focus on work.

You should use a color that would work well with different color schemes, since we often change our minds. ;) Also, if you move out, your parents can use the room for other things without having to repaint it. I suggest white or creme.
