2005 was a great year for Country Music. One of the biggest news-makers of the year was when Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood won "American Idol." After being crowned the winner of the fourth season of "Idol," Underwood began her reign as one of country music's biggest stars. Other top stories of 2005 include Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood's proposal and marriage as well as Kix Brooks, half of award-winning duo Brooks & Dunn, taking over hosting duties on "American Country Countdown," a nationally syndicated country radio show. Some of the year's biggest radio hits included "Alcohol" by Brad Paisley, "Anything But Mine" by Kenny Chesney, "Baby Girl" by Sugarland, and "Bless The Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts.
