In 1983, Sting wrote a song when he was with The Police called Every Breath You Take, with the verse "I'll be watching you". In 1997 Puff Daddy sampled the song and changed the verse to "I'll be missing you" as a tribute to Notorious B.I.G. Sting and Puff Daddy sang together at the MTV Video awards that year.
