If you completely filled the cooling system and reservoir when changing the coolant, some will be forced out of the reservoir overflow when the engine gets hot and the coolant expands. If you suspect that there is a leak in the system, run the engine until it reaches operating temperature, and then shut it off. Observe all hoses and connections carefully after engine stops, as this is the period of highest pressure on the cooling system.
check/replace the engine coolant level sensor located in the engine coolant overflow reservior (located at the rear of the engine compartment pass. side)
The coolant temp. sensor could be bad....or the thermostat could be stuck shut.....there are a few things it could be actually
When you add engine coolant to a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee because the low coolant indicator has come on, you should add to the reserve tank and the radiator if they are low. Sometimes, just the reserve tank needs filled.
The coolant temperature sensor on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee is located in the intake manifold. It monitors the flow and temperature of coolant through the engine.
your engine will get hotter after you shut off the engine. the coolant thus getts hotter the fluid then expands causing the drip
We have a 1998 V8 Olds Aurora, and it takes dex-cool engine coolant. It is the coolant that is orange colored. Wouldn't your small manual tell you the correct coolant to use?
That could be engine coolant in your oil. If so you may have a blown head gasket. You need to have this looked at by a professional to make sure otherwise you can destroy this engine if you continue to drive. This is not normal.
Have the coolant changed immediately and you will be ok.
2004 vw beetles have an aluminum engine therefore require the blue colored coolant.
I was looking at the 2002 Ford F-150 Owner Guide and it ORIGINALLY came with either the : Motorcraft Premium engine coolant ( green - colored ) meeting Ford specification ( ESE - M97B44 - A ) or Motorcraft Premium Gold engine coolant ( yellow - colored ) meeting Ford specification ( WSS - M97B51 - A1 ) What color is in your engine coolant reservoir ?
Rear of engine, underneath the exhaust manifold. you can follow the coolant line (approx. 2") tha runs underneath your engine, then runs up the back of the engine, up to the thermostat.
stop an engine
Zerex brand for Asian vehicles, it's pinkish colored
General Motors changed to Dexcool Extended Life coolant in 1996. It is the orange colored coolant. Green coolant will not hurt the system, it must be replaced about 5 times as frequently though. Beware that once you use green coolant in your cooling system, it is very dificult to remove completely if you want to use the extended life coolant in the future.
I was looking at the 2001 Ford Ranger Owner Guide and it shows that Ford used two types : Motorcraft Premium Engine Coolant ( green colored meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A ) or Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant ( yellow colored meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B51-A1 ) The Owner Guide also shows ( add the coolant type that the vehicle was originally equipped with ) I guess that is fine if you are the original owner and have never changed to a different color antifreeze
GM Dex-Cool, it is the orange colored kind.
Faceing the car.On the left hand side you have a engine coolant reservoir bottle. If you are just going to add some coolant.Make sure when adding coolant it is a 50/50 mixture.Do not add engine coolant when the engine is hot. The cooling system in your vehicle is filled with Ford Extended Life Coolant F6AZ-19544-AA.DO NOT MIX WITH A GREEN-COLORED COOLANT.
