A martyr is someone who suffers, even dies, for their beliefs; often referred to in a biblical sense. Also translated to mean "witness". Ex: Joan of Arc is a well known martyr. A peasant who claimed Divine guidance and led France to many victories during the Hundred Years' War. She was burned at the stake at age 19 and willingly died for her cause, the Lords' desire.

I use the term in my practice when I want a client to understand that they place themselves in needless pain, an extreme or constant sufferer, typically embracing their personal turmoil. I find previously abused persons often chastise themselves immensely. I see is as they are martyring themselves.

So, to find a martyr in your bed you refer to yourself as being a martyr, an extreme sufferer to whatever your cause is. In the song Some Nights it likely refers to a man who is willing to die and live through hell on Earth for his beliefs. I mean... most people who join a war believing it in so much that they are willing to suffer and die for their belief.
