He or she plays the Trombone, a musical instrument of the Brass family. Trombonists can play in an orchestra and/or band, and can also be used as a solo instrument.

Well, it depends on the type of music you are playing. The trombone naturally has a "dark" sound but it only sounds brassy if overblown. It tends to stick out among the other instruments because it is so naturally loud. So, technically if you have a great trombone player and everyone else sucks you can still hear the trombone which at least make the piece you are playing sound halfway decent.

A slide is used to lengthen the tubing which changes it's resonant frequency and in turn we hear as a pitch change.

What is the different slide trombone valve trombone?

A lot. Although they look similar they are played differently. The main difference is the mechanism used to create the notes/pitches. The valve trombone is basically a baritone horn in the shape of a trombone. It uses a combination of 3 valves like a trumpet to generate the different pitches by the vibration of the player's lips in the mouth piece and the combination of valves pressed down. A slide trombone uses a slide to change the wave length of the ptich combined with the vibration of the player's lips in the mouthpiece. Notes or pitches rely upon sound waves. To change pitch you change the length of the sound wave. The valve trombone uses valves to chnages the course of the air producing the sound wave to lengthen it or shorten it. The slide trombone does this by moving the slide up or down.

Which intrument used a U-shaped slide to change pitches?

What is the brass instrument that has a slide?

That would be the trombone. The trombone has a main slide instead of valves to alter the length of tubing that the vibrating air has to travel through to change the pitch of notes. All brass instruments have tuning slides to slightly lengthen or shorten the tubing length to help tune the instrument.

First name for the trombone?

The first trombone was the sacbut. It is smaller than the ones you commonly see today. The sacbut also has no tuning slide, and pitches is adjusted purely by slide.

What are the different characteristics of music between Tuba Trombone Trumpet and French Horn?

they are all brass instruments but all have different pitches and different embouchures, such as the tuba is the lowest brass instrument and the trumpet is the highest and the trombone and french horn is in the middle, a tuba you have to have big lips to vibrate them loose and trombone and french horn too but you have to have tight lips for them and trumpet you have to have small lips and they all have valves except the trombone which has a slide to change pitch which makes it harder. (sorry if this was not the answer you wanted because i am a trombone player).
