The trumpet makes a beautiful noise and its easy to read the small music u attach on BUT the mouthpiece when marching has 2 be plastic else it gets very hold becuz its metal.... I play the clarinet :( .... gets boring but beautiful in the high notes but when marching ur music is down low.... if u play bass clarinet u use ur reg. clariney 4 marching

There also many marching bands that allow anyone to join, but then have auditions for the different parts of the music and for different instruments. In order to gain entry to most drumlines within a marching band a person must audition for their spot on the line. While it is not necessarily true, cymbal players are usually people who lack skill or experience on other drumline instruments such as the snare or bass drums. Even though cymbal players are usually thought of as low men on the totem pole, they still play an important role in the overall success of a drumline!

Normally, the band director will pull out one or two people from the band (or pit), or color guard to hold the banner during a parade. However, they do sometimes have band parents do that, but not march. They just carry the banner.
