Janis Joplin is primarily known for her contributions to Rock Music, particularly psychedelic rock and blues rock. Her powerful and emotive voice, combined with her dynamic stage presence, helped define the sound of the late 1960s. Joplin often incorporated elements of blues, soul, and folk into her music, showcasing her versatility as an artist.

Scott Joplin was primarily known for his contributions to ragtime music, a genre that blends African American musical traditions with European classical forms. His most famous compositions, like "Maple Leaf Rag," exemplify the syncopated rhythms and lively melodies characteristic of ragtime. While he laid the groundwork for later jazz developments, Joplin himself did not play jazz; his music is distinctly rooted in the ragtime style.
I saw her at the Seattle Center Sports Arena ( now know as Key Arena as it was rebuilt) the Seattle Sonics played there.

Scott Joplin, the renowned ragtime composer and pianist, performed at various venues during his career, but he is particularly associated with the "Delmonico's" nightclub in New York City. This establishment was one of the prominent venues for ragtime music in the early 20th century. Joplin's performances there helped to popularize his compositions and the ragtime genre.

I love Janis Joplin and still play her music! Yes, Janis Jopplin and Peter de Blanc were lovers. March 1 at Manhattan's Swann Galleries offered bidders a piece of Joplin's heart. Of the 64 letters that went on the block, 48 were sold, for a total of $109,710. The letters were written to her then-boyfriend, Peter de Blanc, over the summer and autumn of 1965 when Joplin, already a veteran of the cafés and hootenannies of San Francisco and New York City, returned home to Austin, Texas, to "refocus." Written in a neat, precise hand on a variety of paper sheaves, the letters were penned exactly a year before she headed to San Francisco - and fame and destruction.
