The last recordings Joplin completed were "Mercedes Benz" and a birthday greeting for John Lennon ("Happy Trails", composed by Dale Evans) on October 1, 1970. Lennon, whose birthday was October 9, later told Dick Cavett that her taped greeting arrived at his home after her death. On Saturday, October 3, Joplin visited the Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles to listen to the instrumental track for Nick Gravenites' song "Buried Alive In The Blues" prior to recording the vocal track, scheduled for the next day. When she failed to show up at the studio by Sunday afternoon, producer Paul Rothchild became concerned. Full Tilt Boogie's road manager, John Cooke, drove to the Landmark Motor Hotel (since renamed the Highland Gardens Hotel) where Joplin had been a guest since August 24. He saw Joplin's psychedelically painted Porsche still in the parking lot. Upon entering her room, he found her dead on the floor. Did Janis Joplin ever appear in concert at the electric factory in phila?

Yes, I saw her there with the original Big Brother & the Holding Company. She even bumped into me that night! It was '68 or '69, I was 14 or 15. When I got there, the room was already filled with people, standing, waiting for the show. The band's instruments & gear was already on stage, set & ready to play. By my arriving late, I was too late to get a good spot to see the stage from, I had to stand in the very rear of the crowd, stretching & craning to get a view of the stage. But, fortunately, this bad location I was standing in, turned out to be a blessing in disguise, cause as I was standing there, feeling bad that I couldn't see the stage very well, someone nudged me from behind, as they were working their way from the back of the crowd, to get to the stage. It was Big Brother & the Holding Company! They had entered the venue from the front entrance, & were making their way through the crowd, to the stage. They moved in single file, with Janis being in the middle. Each one, including Janis, laid their hands on me, giving me a nudge of approval as they passed me. Janis even laughed, in her unmistakable cackle. Two things that amazed me most about this incredible encounter, was how short & small they were! They weren't that much bigger than I was. And secondly, how enormous their hair was. Especially Janis! They reminded me of the character from the Adam's Family named Cousin It. LOL Little people with enormous hair! They did there usual set, Janis played her percussion rasp on a few numbers, and the guitar player & bass player switched instruments for a couple numbers. The place was packed! It was a fantastic night! peace & love...

Was janis koplin bisexual?

The below answer is very ignorant. Janis Joplin was not just a "crazy hippie that did loads...of drugs"; she was also a feminist, pacifist, and equal rights activist. She was a product of her time, meaning that since she was of the 1960s, and believed strongly in the hippie counterculture movement, she experimented and became addicted to drugs. However, her music is often interpreted as feminist. Good examples are the songs "Ball and Chain" and "Woman Left Lonely. They portray women as men's tools of lust and misuse and push women to stop being held down by their man. Listen to them yourselves and interpret them your way.
