It depends on what the problem actually is. If the ABS module has failed you will still have braking action although it will be compromised (less effective). If however, the ABS is failing because of some other problem in the brake system you could lose all brake functions or have a severe pulling right or left problem when braking. It is really not worth the risk. You need to at least have it checked out by a competent mechanic. You might end up killing yourself or someone else over a fairly simple problem.
I have a 99 JGCL and my problem was a small wire that connects near the front brakes. It was about 2 feet long if I remember correctly and was the abs sensor or something. It cost about forty dollars. If you go to Advanced Auto Parts they might diagnose it for you for free, and tell you if that is really your problem. Good Luck
It means there is a problem with the Anti-Lock Brake System. Check the fluid level in the Master cylinder. If the fluid level is ok, then take it to a professional for repair. you can also reset it by turning over and on the ingintion swith three times
Not sure problems are related Check exhaust system for leaks Bring to a shop that has an ABS scanner to determine problem
Big problem on series2 start with an abs sensor, then a hub,and if that doesnt fix it it needs an abs (slabs)computer! The dealers have about ten different bulletins on this concern
Hi im Mike from Mn, I also have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee with front brakes that are partially engaged so that they heat up. I got them to release after pulling the fuse and relay for the ABS IN THE FUSE BOX under the hood. The brakes work ok now and have not stuck back on but the ABS system is no longer working. I went to the Jeep dealer and they said they had never heard of this problem before. They said if I can make it happen again they may be able to figure it out. Any info you have about this problem would be greatly appreciated Mike
Problem with the ABS (Anitlock Brake System). Take it to a professional for repair.
Repair the problem and it will reset.
The best way to do it is to repair the problem. If there isn't actually a problem with your ABS system, then it's probably a faulty sensor.
Problem with the Antilock Brake System, (ABS). The repair is best left to a professional.
There is a problem with the ABS. This is a repair for a professional.
ABS stands for Anti-Lock Brake System. If the ABS light is on, your ABS has a problem. Clean all wheel sensors of any debris. If that does not help, Seek out a professional for this repair.
It means there is a problem with the ABS. As the ETC is tied into the ABS, that light will also come on. Take it to a professional for diagnosis and repair.
The light is on because there is a problem with the system. You turn it off by having the problem corrected. Are you sure the ABS is working? Your normal braking system will work even if the ABS does not. I suggest you take this to a professional for repair.
If the ABS light is on, this means that there is a problem with the Anti-Lock Brake System. This is not a DIY repair. Take it to a dealer.
The abs light is on because you have a problem with the abs system. Until the problem is fixed the abs light will remain on. Your local auto parts store can read the code(s) in the abs module to help determine the cause of the light. Once the repair is done a short drive will reset the abs light.
You wont get large abs like i do. I have a 10-pack
With the ABS light on you will still have normal braking functions, but your anti lock brake system will not function. You have a problem within the ABS system, but will need to take it to a repair facility so they can translate the trouble code and tell you where they think the problem is.
