n,
This wasn't actually by Michael Jackson- he only did a cover version of it, it was originally released by Bobby Day in 1958. Basically, it's a nonsense song about a robin chirrupping rock & roll- he lives in a suburban street and is the best singer out of all the birds in the neighbourhood, regardless of species. He sings all day to a bopping beat, beating the talents of all the other birds and winning the hearts of female robins! It's a late '50s joke song about the idea of birds being able to sing rock and bop music.
Rocking Robin Fits the cipher, but it is NOT a Christmas Song at all. Okay there was some juvenile story- the Birds" Christmas Carol, but this had nothing to do with Rockin" Robin, which was recorded by Bobby Jay ( appropriate name) and was later revived by, as usual the Jackson Five.
The Jackson five made some of the best known songs in the 70s - 80s that we know of today. Some of their most memorable songs are; 'Can you feel it', 'Rockin' Robin', 'Dancing machine', 'Blame it on the boogie', 'Shake your body (Down to the ground)' and 'ABC'.
