RPM mean 'revs per minute', the speedometre only shows numbers 1 to 9but then you times it by 1000. It is bacicaly how many revs your engine produces in one minute at the current rate of use. :-)

What is piston displacement in a motor?

It is measured in cubic inches, cubic centermeters, or liters. It is the area of the bore of the piston and the stroke of the piston. In other words how big that hole the pistons resides in when the piston is all the way down. You multiply that by the number of pistons in the engine.

What is a four-cylinder motor?

It Has 4 pistons A cylinder is the central working part of a reciprocating engine, the space in which a piston travels.

What does it mean when oil is in the pistons of a 2003 Volvo S40 1.9L turbo?

It may not mean anything at all. Motor oil is used to lubricate and cool the pistons. If there's a lot on the side of the pistons, then it's possible that you need to replace the piston rings.

What are cylinders in a car?

They are the hollowed out shapes/areas in the motor block, which the pistons move up and down through. The petrol is let into the cylinder, when piston pushes up, the petrol explodes and pushes the piston down. The bigger the cylinder the bigger to push, the more powerful the motor.

How do you replace piston rings in an Audi A4 V6 3.0L?

You take the motor apart, pull out the pistons and throw them into a skip. After that tryu to start it with a torque wrench

Is it possible to run a piston using either steam or an electric motor?

You can run a piston with any sort of power, steam, hydro, electric motor. Electric motors are often used to move a piston in pumps, but the rotary type pump is much more efficient. Today steam is normally used to move a turbine, not a piston. Most pistons are used in internal combustion machines and are used to capture to power of the explosion.

How did the detorit pistond get there name?

Detroit is the birthplace of the automobile and the motor industry. A piston is one of the most energetic moving parts of an automobile engine. The pistons drive the vehicle. The Detroit Pistons chose that name to suggest that the players are energetic and fast, and that they drive the team.

How many pistons did the fastest car have?

It had a turbine engine, not a motor with pistons.

You put a new crankshaft and new piston rods on piston 1 and 3 and now your motor vibrates really bad so is the problem perhaps in the harmonic balancer or should you look elsewhere for the problem?

Your rods for pistons 1 and 3 and probably backwards

Can you put a use piston in?

no no no no no, and once again to solidify my point, no! as the engine is used your pistons, and cylinder walls wear in a certain pattern, and they have a different level of wear from car to car, what you have to do generally is send the motor to a machinist to bore the cylinders out slightly, then get new oversized pistons

How does a 2 stroke motor work?

it runs faster than a 4stroke but use mixed gas in the to stroke

Why cylinder's are used in car?

basically cylinders are fitted with the pistons used in the engine of a motor vehicle. these pistons are been used for the combustion of the fuel and its purpose is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft via a piston rod and/or connecting rod. In a pump, the function is reversed and force is transferred from the crankshaft to the piston for the purpose of compressing or ejecting the fluid in the cylinder. In some engines, the piston also acts as a valve by covering and uncovering ports in the cylinder wall.
