Rev. Richard Smallwood is a Gospel Pianist, Composer, Music Director and Arranger. Born in Atlanta, as a child, he and his family moved to Washington, D.C. where he still lives.

Smallwood has ministered to presidents and dignitaries all over the globe and in numerous, world-renowned performance centers in his native home: among them, Constitution Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian Institution ---which has honored him for his cultural contribution ---and the White House, where he accompanied Opera diva Leontyne Price during the Reagan administration.

Smallwood completed work on his Masters of Divinity at Howard University's prestigious School of Divinity in 2004, graduating with honors. Ordained in June of that year, Richard serves as a minister and Artist-in-Residence at his home church, Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington.

In 2006, Richard was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame joining Mahalia Jackson, Andraé Crouch, and Thomas A. Dorsey and other gospel greats.
