A basswood is any of several varieties of tree of the genus Tilla, especially Tilla americana, the American basswood.
Strong in the midrange, Basswood has a balanced tone and is lightweight. Light in color with almost no grain patterns, Basswood is best suited for solid colors or is excellent as a backing wood for a Maple top. All types of neck wood combinations work on Basswood but Indian would be on the woollier and warmer side. I prefer Mohagany
Wiring and electronics and wood the wood usually used is agathis basswood mahogany and alder p.s. fender's are better than Gibson.
Westbury is a budget drum brand. Most drums at that level are made from Philippine Mahogany (lauan). This is not "real" mahogany, it's a cheap wood. Basswood is another cheap wood, but better sounding than lauan. Poplar is another common budget drum wood, although back in the big band days poplar was one of the most common drum woods. Those classic Pearl Exports from the 80's .... poplar. All that said.. the Westbury's are likely lauan or basswood.
In the manufacture of Fender Showmaster guitars, the types of wood used include mahogany, basswood, alder, lacewood and spalted maple. These types of wood give the music produced more exotic timbres.
plan as in electronics diagram? http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/wiring_resources_guitar_wiring_diagrams/ 6 in line headstock 25.5 scale rosewood fretboard dot inlays made of plastic 24 frets maple neck satin polyurethane finish on the neck thin U shaped neck bolt on neck basswood body (I believe) ....if you're building one go Alder instead the right electronics and pickups you want , ebay is amazing for it Jackson guitar bodies and necks go up on ebay all the time , their necks are incredible and the bodies again go alder instead of basswood it sounds so much better. Necks wise see if you can get a pro series "made in japan" neck they are some of the best necks in the world to me for production models.

Basswood, definately. It's very fine grained and soft. Oak is much harder.
