the ceolacanth is a fish that lived 360 million years ago but was thought to be exticnt and it is a member of an ancient lingage. it is a living fossil and is still alive today but if someone catches one they have to put it back. it is classified as critically engdangered on the lUCN red list. there length is 2 m and are up to 90 kg. they have been found in all continents exept antartica. they live in ocean waters from 150 to 700 metres deep.

To catch a coelacanth you have to wait until it is raining or snowing (I find the snow easier) and then you can catch loads in a day.

The ceolacanth lived about 410 million years ago. That's pretty old. Living specimens have been caught in recent times, but, as individuals it seems that they 'only' live for about 80 to 100 years. Even older fish fossils have been found, but it has been difficult to identify these as being truly fish. The oldest fish in captivity is reckoned to be about 80 years old.
