I HAD THE same problem.... 87,000 2000 grand Cherokee 4.7l when i let off the gas it might stall. happens 1 to 4 times a day. so far i have replaced the crank shaft sensor - it stopped stalling for 3 days $130 cleaned the throttle boddy free replaced the throttle position sensor $72 replaced the idle air control sensor $132 replaced the map manafold airflow sensor $125 no luck it is still stalling. by the way i have done all the work myself. it was about 30 minutes for most parts i just ordered a rebuilt ecu or pcu engine control unit. they program in the vin, mileage and part nbr so you gc will recognize it. $185 installed ECU 2 days ago...... so far so good. good luck

What makes your 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee stall and start up again?

This question depends largely on Age of vehicle, Auto or manual, Diesel or Petrol. The most obvious to me would be a more modern Cherokee, Petrol and auto box, Suggesting that the CPU has picked up a major fault. Possibly the gearbox but without looking or full description of symptoms it would be very hard to tell.

Why does my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee start fine sometimes other times hard start and cuts off?

I had this problem and found and answer on the internet. Find your computer, mine is next to windshield wiper water bottle. Pull off the plastic cover than unplug the leads to computer. You will see two screws back them out one turn. That is it. Some how the cover is shorting the computer because the screws are to tight, Mine is a 1996 Cherokee Limited.

If you replace the computer PCM PCU on your 1992 Jeep Cherokee do you have to have a dealership re-program it afterwards?

I'm getting ready tomorrow to replace my 92 Cherokee computer and it better not need dealer input .from what i understand it has a chip builtin .that chip should be programed for this vehicle besides you have to get exact replacement computer based on it id numbers .each computer is preprogramed for the particular emissions and componets on the vehicle .i know this isn't a answer but more a observation. i definetaly will know more tomorrow and if you don't hear fro m me i was right to begin with .don't forget to vote for the nonracist runner.

What would make your 92 Bonneville start then just cut off?

Several things could cause this: First off I have to ask have you replaced or done major work to the engine or changed the ECM/ECU/PCM/PCU whichever you choose to call it if so it may be the immobilizer. What happens is you would start your car, and it should start normal, and a few seconds later it will die. Most cars would show a flashing light on the instrument panel, most of the time a picture of a car and a key, if it is this the ECU needs to be reprogrammed by a car dealer Another common cause is that the ECU or possibly even the ICM (Ignition control Unit) need to be replaced But there are many reasons for this
