The western movie Flaming Star was released by 20th Century Fox in December 1960. Although Elvis Presley recorded a wonderful title song there were too few songs from this movie to produce a soundtrack album. In 1961, in response to public requests (and to stop a bootleg version of the title song as reported in Variety Nov. 18/1960), an extended 45rpm single was released in a picture sleeve containing "Flaming Star" and a song that was deleted from the movie, "Summer Kisses Winter Tears" on side one. Two more very popular Elvis songs "Are You Lonesome Tonight" and "Its Now or Never" were on side two. RCA released an album titled "Flaming Star" on their budget label in 1969. The album cover featured a portrait of Elvis in a western hat and outfit and contains the title song but none of the other songs on this album are from the movie soundtrack. The album was re-released on CD in 2006.
