Elvis's yearbook signatureIt didn't take me very long to realize that Elvis Presley's signature is what's valuable and probably not the school yearbook. Anyone can sell their signature I believe if someone wants to buy it. A celebrity's signature makes items more valuable than not. The yearbook did not come from an organization such as a major league, major company, etc but was from a typical source. A signed baseball from the Cubs is probably a good example of what I'm trying to convey. If Elvis's signature were cut out of the yearbook it could sell. Any copies of it may be worthless as you can purchase cds and store bought materials of sorts, and have his signature a hundred times over. The original copy is one to hold on to. Therefore best kept in tact in the yearbook. That just might turn the tables in your favor if someone really wanted to purchase the yearbook with his signature only because that's the school Elvis attended. I am only going by what I've heard, read, and my feelings about that. There would need be a deepened interest for someone to make you the kind of offer you'd be willing to accept. It seems the yearbook holds more value to you in the sense that it belongs to you personally. You may place a high value on it enough to keep, depending on how you view it. Added 5/10/2010 - In 1987, a signed copy sold for $1,200 at auction. Then in 2004 at a Christie's auction, another copy sold for >$4,500 with the buyer's premium included. In 2008, what possibly appears to be the same copy at the 1987 auction, sold for $4,000 (plus $900 buyer's fee) at auction. There are only about 12 known to exist.
Besides common music stores in your area, there are a lot of online sheet music shops where you can get both digital and hard copies of what you need. Most of the online store are retailers of traditional publishers (JWPepper or Sheetmusicplus, e.g.). However, there are also platforms where composers and arrangers sell their music with performing licenses directly to performers.
