To make something holy in the Hebrew sense is to separate: set it it apart and make it unique [unto God]. In terms of the Sabbath, we are challenged to find delight and joy, refrain from "labor" and "creation", and study God's Word.
The Sabbath day is Saturday. The Sabbath represents when God finished all his creations,Earth and decided to rest on the seventh day which us considered the Sabbath day. During Shabbat (Hebrew), Jews refrain from doing any of the categories of work that were prohibited in the Torah. Families spend time together and go to synagogue to pray.
