By saying "similar to classical" I assume you mean the classical era in music?
The classical era was a huge achievement when looking at earlier eras such as Medieval and Baroque. The orchestra developed as we saw new instruments being perfected, we saw the dismissal of the "Basso Continuo" as the Piano and other bass instruments became available and we also saw an increase in Musical Forms (particularly the Sonata form which changed the way music was written significantly!)
In a way it's hard to say that it's similar, especially as it's really easy to distinguish a medieval/baroque piece from that of a classical. Even the Baroque harpsichord wasn't completely perfected in the medieval era, it was mostly just other string instruments (under other names and designs), wooden flutes, organs, harps and believe it or not the Trombone (then called a sackbut).
I would be interested to know if there even is much similarity.. As far as I'm aware there isn't any noticeable.. If anyone's able to rectify me on that please feel free.

Romantic is more emotional while classical is simple type of music ;) Daphne hope i helped at least a bit... ^_^
Of course, classical music is the most popular than modern music and will always have a place in any century.
Strictly, Classical Music is everything (European) written between 1730 and 1830. However in modern parlance any European music which is orderly, clear and balanced portraying beauty rather than emotion is considered classical.

Modern ballet is more from this century. It isn't to music you would here in a symphony where as classical is. Classical is when you go to The Nutcraker and see ladies op on pointe shoes doing things like pirouettes.

Do you mean the difference between classical music and film music?Classical music was composed in the period from 1550 to 1900 (more or less).Film music came into existence in the late 1800's/early 1900's.Film music often borrows elements from classical music, but from other music forms as well (for example jazz, and rock). Both music forms have also much in common. When you put on a dvd, turn off the sound from the tv, and put on a classical piece of music at the same time, the classical music can often compliment the movie you're watching!
Electroacoustic music are the modern and classical electronic type of musics.

All of the Instruments are in classical music except for modern guitar and all the different types of saxophones.
I recommend the composition "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams (1968).
