I've been reading 1893 Guide to Columbian World Exhibition in Chicago. They claim 200,000 indoor attendance in Manufactures Building on Dedication Day. That might seem far fetched but the building is listed as 1687 by 787 feet and had 44 acres floor space. The book includes an etching of the scene.
