The bass has a low sound and is used in bands to help keep the rythym, working very closely with the drummer. Whilst the Guitarists go showing off the bass is responsible for keeping the beat and the key in tact and ties it all together. The bass has a beuatiful tone and although it is used for solos it isn;t really a "show off" instrument, but an essential and tbh brillinat one.

It depends upon if you are more a people person or a background person. Bass is someone who doesn't mind playing his role down a bit, but is essential to the sound of most bands. Bass is almost as essential as the drummer. Rhythm guitar, however is a front runner, a ham, an actor with a stage and has to have the energy to put on a show.
