∙ 13y agoMaria Von Trapp was the lead female character, played on Stage by Mary Martin and in the movie by Julie Andrews. so-called Musical Comedy was almost totally devoid of comedy-in either genre- though there was some sort of Mickey-Mouse-like human pyramid of kids lining up on stairs in the beginning- To the tune of Do-Re-Mi as I recall. The play introduced, and amplified two traditionally taboo topics for musical comedy- Politics and religion. Maria Von Trapp's autobiography is very interesting and probably can be found on Amazon. The movie is very loosely based on the true story.
