The closest thing I can think of was the somewhat oddly up-beat if morose song that had the punch line- let's forget about tomorrow, or tomorrow never comes! I seem to recall a Calypso or Spanish Accent. I accidentally heard the song sometime in the sixties on a passing car-radio in Hoboken. The song shocked me. It seemed to be so glib about such a morbid topic- and in that period such things as bomb tests and scares, the very real Vietnam War , well it seemed horribly out of touch-far more than morbid romantic love songs like the controversial ( and much older) Love Me Forever , which dates to l933.

[Verse 1 (altered chorus)] I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed Oh God, it feels like forever But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home Sitting all alone Inside your head [Verse 2] How do you feel? That is the question But I forget, you don't expect an easy answer When something like a soul becomes initialized And folded up like paper dolls and little notes You can't expect to better folks And while you're on the outside looking in Describing what you see Remember what you're staring at is me [Chorus (unaltered)] I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed All I know is that it feels like forever But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home Sitting all alone Inside your head [Verse 3] How much is real? So much to question An epidemic of the mannequins Contaminating everything When thought came from the heart It never did right from the start Just listen to the noises (No more sad voices) Before you tell yourself It's just a different scene Remember it's just different from what you've seen [Chorus] I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed All I know is that it feels like forever But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home Sitting all alone Inside your head [Final Verse] And it's the stars The stars that shine for you And it's the stars The stars that lie to you And it's the stars The stars that shine for you And it's the stars The stars that lie to you Who are the stars? Who are the stars that lie...
John Hiatt wrote Feels Like Rain.
That sounds a lot like the Frank Sinatra song: Strangers in the Night.
Born a Woman - Sandy Posey
Feels like forever means, that you feel about something and it means you can't get them of your mind so you feel about them for a very, very long time aka forever, but people exaggerate

Try listening to "Over The Rainbow" by Judy Garland. Maybe it's that song.
but noone said it would last forever!
Misery Business? by Paramore. A lyric in that song says "God it just feels so good"
If someone is asking you to be with him forever, it sounds like he has some pretty strong feelings for you. It sounds like this guy really cares about you and wants you to be in his life for a very long time ("forever", did he say?). If that's not love, I don't know what is.
The phrase "velvet shadow" suggests something dark and mysterious but with a soft and luxurious quality, akin to how velvet feels. In the context of the song lyric you provided, it could symbolize the dream-like state of the singer's experience, where reality is softened and made more intriguing by this shadowy presence.
