The date of acutal release is unknown but Les Paul Gibson "Gibson SG was released in 1961. Replacing his original guitar that was introduced to the public in 1954. The SG in the newly released guitar in 1961 was known for "Solid Guitar"
some numbers were scrawled on the tone/volume pots under the rear cover indicating a date
