depends on brands, I saw one on craigslist today for 500 dollars canadian, an epiphone one about 1000$ new i've seen locally in a real guitar store. Ask yourself this though do you like/need a 12 string neck for the second neck or play in more than one tuning and need to have more than one guitar with you on stage at the same time.

All a 12 string is is a 6 string guitar, but for every string there's an octave higher string right next to it, and when you play you hold both those strings down at the same time, giving you a little fuller and different sound than a 6 string. So I guess the player just switches when he wants to between the two. However, some double-necks vary in number of strings.
