In Grand Chrokees, there are various rear ends that require different fluids. You'll need to take your VIN number and call the parts department of your local Jeep dealer. Ask them. Don't guess. You might cause damage.
The front and rear differentials both use 75W-90W gear oil. The rear should be changed to 75W-140W if you are towing or otherwise putting the drivetrain under extra stress. This comes straight from the owner's manual.

75w90 or 80w90. Limited slip rear will require additive.
You add the fluid down the dipstick tube.
No, the rear fluid comes out of the front reservoir.
If the fluid leaking into the rear tire is not brake fluid then it comes from the differential. It means you have a leaking seal. It means you are losing differential fluid. When the fluid is gone or gets low, you will lose your differential, the gears will strip, you will hear a horrible grinding sound, the rear wheels will lock up, and you will be stuck with the vehicle stopped wherever you are. Hopefully, it will not be in the middle of an Interstate highway with traffic screaming past at 80 miles an hour.
At 18000 miles if towing
