The technical term for a piano is a piano-forte. Piano means soft in musical terms. Forte means loud. The piano is termed piano-forte (soft-loud) largely because of its ability to produces many levels of sound.

It is tuned to original pitches, it can be used to tune anything, (meaning C-note written down for piano music is actual C pitch for all Musical Instruments). It also has all the whole range of notes that almost all if not all compositions of music are written in.
