to tune an Electric Guitar properly you have to

have a tuner , either a kind that plugs into the guitar or one with a microphone in it like a Korg tuner has and then you hit one string at a time.

the notes you tune to are

E (thickest) also known as low E for the string name

A

D

G

B

E (thinnest) , this is higher than the thick E string

the easiest acronym to remember is ..

Ernie Ate Dynamite Good Bye Ernie (EADGBE)

now when you're tuning the strings assuming you didn't put them on , on the head of the guitar you want to check the lowest string and see if you twist the guitar strings machine heads knob one way and see if the string either goes lower or higher. Once you figure it out you're almost done

now figure out which string is out of tune in which way, is it too high or is it too low each string may be different , YouTube may be of assistance. Essentially if you're going from a flappy string working your way up you want to go to the first E on the strings and then the next strings are a little higher each.

some pro tips

loosen all the strings until they flap like wild and ptu the strings very low to the neck , this will make it easier to play

if the pickups or anything is in the way it can be fixed as well I have the strings milimeters away from my neck
