He started off in a public school in Gary, Indiana until he was 11 years old, his grades were above average and he especially excelled in creative class, by the time the Jackson 5 became famous they had to leave school and were tutored by a private tutor 3 hours a day between Monday to Friday although their tutor had to travel with them, legally a child artist will have to be provided with a tutor never went to college but, he is actually quite smart.... =]

It is unsure, but many believe that his education stopped around the time that he would have been in middle school. He began going on tour around this time. Though his IQ was pretty high. In his preteens, Michael had an IQ of 108. In his teen years, it had risen to 119 and just before he died, he had an IQ of 164. The average adults IQ world wide is 100.

EDIT: If his IQ changed, then he wasn't tested properly. IQ tests are supposed to measure your base intelligence and that doesn't change over a lifetime. (Don't confuse a body of knowledge with intelligence.) What changes is how the test is administered and whether or not the questions were age appropriate.

An individual's base intelligence will increase undoubtedly from birth to adulthood. They aren't necessarily different because the test wasn't administered properly, it's because the test was administered at different stages of his life (pre-teenagehood, teenagehood, and adulthood) with his brain being significantly more developed at each stage. This explains the drastic difference in his results. So, yes, as you said, it does depend heavily on whether or not the questions were age appropriate. Now, if he were administered the IQ test every few years or so throughout the entirety of his adulthood up until his death, there would likely be little to no change in his results.
