To his fans or 'beliebers' he is very important; however his haters do not think that he is at all important. To fans he may be important because he may inspire and motivate them.

It also depends what context you mean this in. If you where referring to his importance in the music industry that would be due to all of his success including over 70 awards and platinum albums. However many people would disagree that he was not at all important within the music industry.
