No one really "designed" heavy metal. It all came about with certain bands/artists writing certain songs and using certain styles. A music type has to develope over time. However, Alice Cooper did created his own genre of music called "shock rock" because of all the songs he created. That is an acception to the rule. However, Alice Cooper did influence many bands that are now categorized as heavy metal today (such as KISS, Marilynn Manson, etc).

My favorite musical genre is rock.
I can see Alice liking Fantasy genre books.
Madlib DJ does not belong to any musical genre and seems to have several genres including but not limited to, hip hop, jazz, remixes, and multi genre DJ mix tapes. A jack of all trades he also is a "DJ first, produce second, and MC last".
Alice Cooper adopted his stage name from a mix of inspiration and mischief. Originally, he was part of a band called The Spiders, but when they rebranded, he chose the name Alice Cooper, believing it would create a stark contrast with his dark, theatrical performance style. He later claimed that the name was inspired by a fictional character he created, which contributed to his persona of shock rock. The name helped solidify his image as a pioneering figure in the genre.
Theater in the form of musical drama is the genre of 'Wicked the Musical'. The genre of the book upon which the stage play is based is prose literature in the form of a novel. In the event of a film version, the genre most likely will be drama or musical drama.
