18 pieces? Even with two snares (one off one on) and double bass drums, you would still need 14 toms to make an 18 piece drum kit. Remember, pieces does not refer to the cymbals, percussion pieces, and hardware. Only the drums. I don't think you can even buy 14 Pearl Export toms of different sizes.

In every question regarding drums I've answered, I've said it's a matter of what music you play. But overall, I think the best drum makers are Yamaha and pearl. What I like the most about them is they offer kits for any style of music. For example, Yamaha makes kits like the stage and tour custom. Though rather expensive, these kits can be played for many different genres, it just depends on what sizes you get. It's like that with almost any kit, but the sound quality is part of being a good drum maker. pearl vision, masters and reference series drums are very good for almost any genre. If you don't have so much money, vision is somewhat a kit for someone on a budget, but worth the money. The refence series is probably the best kit they've ever made. A very much cheaper alternative is pearl export series. If you have two to three thousand dollars laying around, Pearl reference or Yamaha stage custom. If you have five to eight hundred dollars, pearl export or vision. If you have any further questions regarding drums email me at benaild@gmail.com
