One of the first rappers to appear on MTV was most likely Run-DMC when the show "Yo, MTV Raps!" first appeared with them hosting it. That was one of the first rappers to really be hosting/appearing on MTV but they might of played a rap music video like the "The Message", "Rapper's Delight" or "The Breaks" before rap was even shown often on MTV because MTV mostly consumed Rock during that time.
In 1986 Run-D.M.C. had the first major played video along with Aerosmith with "Walk This Way" but dont think we can consider that the first rap video? Cause of collaboration with Rock? but hey also had "King Of Rock" that played in 85/86 with somewhat heavy rotation?, but 1987 LL Cool J video "Im Bad" and "I Need Love" were considered the first solo rap artist video`s played with heavy rotation - So Run-D.M.C. and LL Cool J considered the first 2?
