A lengthy tune is often referred to as an "epic" or "extended" piece of music. In genres like classical, rock, or progressive music, such pieces may also be called "suites" or "movements" if they consist of multiple sections. Additionally, a long song might simply be described as a "long track."
Having worked as a Music Supervisor with ad agencies for over 30 years, I would say most often it is down to budget/not having any money. Classical music is in Public Domain(PD) which means no Publishers fees and many library catalogues have recordings of classical music = synchronization fees at the lowest fixed rates. It is important however to check if the track is in PD or the version that you look is not a new arrangement it can turn out to be an expensive error.
One notable rap song that incorporates classical violin is "Murder" by the artist Ecco2K, featuring a prominent violin section that adds a unique layer to the track. This fusion of genres highlights the versatility of both rap and classical music, showcasing how traditional instruments can enhance contemporary sounds. Additionally, artists like Lil Uzi Vert and Logic have also experimented with violin elements in their music, reflecting a growing trend in the genre.

A compressor allows you to compress your audio and bring out things that aren't as loud without making the things that are loud any louder. Essentially you are taking the dynamics away from the music. Depending on the genre this can be good or bad. In classical music there are a lot of dynamics. When the entire orchestra is playing the music is loud, but when it breaks down and its just the flutes playing it gets very quiet. Using a compressor you can make that louder. In this scenerio you wouldn't want to do it because that's a part of classical music having that dynamic range. When you come to pop music everything is compressed to hell to make the track as loud as possible. On an individual track such as a vocal track you can use a compressor to even everything out. So that one part of the recording that the artist doesn't sing as loud can be compensated for without having to re-record the entire track.
