Buddy Holly did perform at the Regal Cinema in Hull on the 19th March 1958 on his British Tour www.bootleg-buddy.co.uk
The Big Bopper (Jape "JP" Richardson) and Ritchie Valens.
BUDDY HOLLY - A self-taught guitar player, Jennings rose to prominence as a bass player for Buddy Holly following the break-up of The Crickets. He escaped death in the February 3, 1959 plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson when he gave up his seat to the latter.
In 1959, Buddy Holly toured with several acts as part of the Winter Dance Party tour. Notable performers included Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper (J.P. Richardson), and Frankie Sardo. This tour tragically ended when Holly, Valens, and The Big Bopper died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, a day now referred to as "The Day the Music Died."
Yes, Buddy Holly had three older siblings: Larry Holley, Travis Holley, and Pat Holley Kaiter (Holly dropped the "e" from his name after the first contract he signed with Decca Records (I think it was Decca) misspelled his name as Holly and he decided to keep it spelled that way.)

No...Buddy said something to him to the effect of "I hope your bus catches fire" or something like that then Waylon said "I hope your plane crashes" they were just kidding around. for years after that...waylon really thought he was the reason why the plane crashed and he thought he was the reason why Buddy Holly died.
According to the story I heard, it was Waylon Jennings, who rode on the tour bus instead.
He was one of the only American rock musicians to tour England in 1958, and was also on Sunday Night at the Palladium while he was there, so many young people got to see him live, unlike other American performers who didn't tour overseas. He also was one of the biggest influences on The Beatles in sound and name, the name of his band "The Crickets" influencing The Beatles to choose their name. John Lennon was especially a huge fan of Buddy.
On the tour that included Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper, other acts included Dion and the Belmonts, as well as Frankie Sardo. The tour was part of the "Winter Dance Party" concert series, which featured several performances across the Midwest. This tragic event occurred on February 3, 1959, during a stop in Clear Lake, Iowa.
His band was called the Crickets, but the band and Buddy split and Buddy went solo. The crickets carried on recording and backed Eddie Cochran on 'Three steps to heaven' on his last recording session before his UK tour, unfortunately Eddie died in a car accident while in the UK.
he mainly played guitar but could play many others including the drums.
