1st check fuse is ok. I believe is is labeled BK/Lamp or some abbreiviation.
2nd verify bulb(s) ok (I doubt if both are bad).
3rd with park brake on, ignition on and in revearse, test for voltage coming from switch located on transmission. If ok there, then you most likely have a wiring broblem, possibly a bad ground.

I researched it on the internet and found several other cases with the same sensor problem. You can in theory change it yourself, but it's not easy - I think I paid $200-250 for parts and labor.
