It may surprise you to know that the National Anthem of Canada was not officially recognized until July 1, 1980,
There was a poll held. Oh Canada and The Maple Leaf Forever were the main contestants.
1880, 1906, 1908, 1939, and 1980. There are a few other variations along the way but most of them were dead ends.
