If you find tabs that use an ocarina that doesn't look like yours, don't worry, they should still work(if they are for a 6-hole pendant.

It is held in by flexible tabs that hook to the back of the wall its in. You have to pry it out from the outside, which will break off the tabs. (They're very thin.) Look at a picture on one of the websites that offer replacement parts and you'll see the wing-shpaed tabs. The replacement is simply inserted back into the hole.

You could certainly tune the Mandolin like that. It just requires the right size strings to be used. You could then use ukulele tabs to play songs, but the sound would be different.
