Where did Jimi Hendrix get inspiration for castles made of sand?

I heard this story about the song, but I'm not sure about its relevance.

Somewhere during his stay in Europe Jimi remained in a hippie commune near the Moroccan city of Essaouira, on the Atlantic coast.

This commune was situated near the remnants of a new part of the city that was built somewhere in the 18th century, but got abandoned due to it being overtaken by the desert. It was litterally half dunes, half buildings ... Which would apply to the title of "Castles made of sand".

Anyone who can back this up ?
