The English elite used English and Irish slaves in the carribean, before using Black people. Whites were a large majoirty for a long time before the importation of Black people. This touch of White in the Black population causes red hair to appear ocasionally in Afro carribeans.
The Irish were used as indentured workers/slaves in America, where African Americans are 23% White. This also gave an opportunity for people to mix, hence red hair in African Americans.
