OBVIOUSLY THE BEST MUSIC AND PERFORMING ART SCHOOL IN THE US IS THE JULLIARD SCHOOL OF MUSIC, IN new york, new york
CIM, NEC, Juilliard, Boston C., Peabody, San Fran., Curtis, Eastman, Manhattan are all good
^^
Whoever wrote that answer is obviously clueless when it comes to reading a question. Julliard is not a University, it is a conservatory. If your looking for great music UNIVERSITIES, I would try looking at schools in Texas and Tennessee. Texas tends to have amazing music programs. Try Texas A&M, Texas Tech, And University of Texas.
It depends on if you want to audition or not to get in. I will be attending SUNY Oneonta in the fall for music industry and it is a non audition program that focuses more on the business aspect rather than the performance aspect. It is a large, well develpoed program that is very well known and well-rated (not to mention inexpensive). I believe Northeastern is also non-auditioned. If you want a more musical performance, I would check out Berklee or Depaul
I would say Bob Jones University. Everyone who takes voice lessons there comes out singing beter than the amrican idol.
Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts. They have the best music programs, and you can really enjoy yourself in the environment.

In 1978 Marsalis attended the Julliard School of Music, but after two years he left to join the Jazz Messengers, and he studied under the group's leader, Art Blakey. In 1981, he began touring with Herbie Hancock, by which time he had no intention of continuing formal education, because he was already playing with and learning from the best. He does, however, have numerous honorary doctorate degrees and other recognitions from Brandeis University, Brown University, Columbia University, Denison University, Harvard University, John Hopkins University, the Manhatten School of Music, New York University, Northwestern University, Princeton University, the University of Miami, Southern Methodist University and Yale University.
