There is a mural on the wall of 1st Bn 8th Marines Command Post at Camp Lejeune in memory of our comrades
Is it still there, I am Christopher Bellerose, the artist who painted the mural in 1998, if anyone can send me a pic of the mural I would greatly appreciate it, I have lost all pics I had of that and the regimental mural on the other side where the S-1 offices were. An eighth note looks like this ♪. -------------------------------------------- An eighth note has a solid black note head and a stem with a flag on it (see the example above). If there are two or more eighth notes together, they are usually connected by a single horizontal line (or beam) that goes across from the stem of the first eighth note in the group to stem of the last eighth note in the group.
Oh, this can be so tricky, depending on the meter of the piece in question and how complex the passage is. The quick and dirty answer is that a dotted eighth has the value of three sixteenth notes. You can see that two eighth notes would be equal to 4 sixteenth notes, right? If you pair a dotted eighth note with a sixteenth note (you will see this very often: the two notes are connected with one flag/bar, the dot comes with the first note, and there is an added flag/bar segment to the second note that is short; it doesn't extend back to the first note) then the dotted eighth takes the place of the first 3 sixteenth notes in a group of four sixteenths.
A beat is the basic rhythmic unit of music. For more information, ask another question (one could ask a musically knowledgeable person in the flesh, as this is very basic musical knowledge).A dotted quarter note and an eighth note are worth two (2) beats together, with hits (notes starting) on the downbeat (beat 1) and the "and" (second half) of beat 2.If you are counting half notes (each half of each beat), then a dotted quarter note would last for three counts. If counting aloud, it would last while one counts "1 + 2" (one-and-two). The eighth note would then last when you count the "and" or + of beat 2.The top two cards in the image show a dotted quarter note plus and eighth note. The first two bottom cards (when reading left to right) show a quarter note and pair of eighth notes. The quarter note and the first eighth note are tied (with orange). The tie means to hold tone duration (or not to strike/hit on an instrument again) for the added values of the tied notes. The quarter note and eighth note tied are worth 1.5 beats - the same as a dotted quarter note. Therefore, in regards to the note values:dotted quarter note + eighth note = quarter note tied with eighth note + eighth note
The 2 foripulae (the stinging appendages) are located on the first segment and hidden under the head.
1st Battalion makes men, 2nd Battalion makes Marines, and 3rd Battalion makes machines. Our old saying back in boot camp. Honestly though I would say drill. 1st has always had the best drill in my opinion and experience.

Usually refers to a battalion's order within a regiment. If a regiment has four battalions which are either in that regiment, or else affiliated with that regiment, then they'll be numbered, first battalion, second battalion, third battalion, fourth battalion..
