Where is the fuse located for the radiator fan on the 2000 grand Cherokee Laredo?

The fan is controlled by the fan relay which is located behind the right front fender - very hard to get to (step one according to the Jeep shop manual is to remove the front bumper). The relay itself is about $80 from Jeep dealers, but getting to it is very hard and involves a couple hours of labor. make sure it is NOT 40amp fuse, try changing that out first.that saved me a lot of money.Just look at the fuse box on right side of engine up top.Very easy to try this alternative first.

The Radiator Cooling Fan Relay Switch for a 2003 Jeep Cherokee is located behind the bumper on the passenger side underneath the headlight. There are two ways of accessing it: 1. Remove the bumper. 2. Remove the pasenger side headlight assembly and cut a hole in the plastic underneatch click on the link below for more info. http://rigs.corequipment.com/cebby_WJsite/cooling.htm#relay Update: the relay seems to be a common replacement item for this vehicle. One cause of the failure is that the relay overheats, per a note inserted in the replacement part packaging. The cutout method is used by dealers. In one vehicle, the relay failed again after 40,000 miles or so. While replacing the relay it was noted that it was secured by one screw and it was not tight. This did not provide thermal contact with the chassis which helps cool the relay. The cause of the second failure was likely due to improper installation. Trying to work through a cutout would seem to make it difficult to get both screw isntalled securely. Furthermore, the new parts today use steel pop rivets for installation to help guarantee it will maintain proper thermal contact with the chassis. The pop rivets cannot be isntalled without removing the bumper. It is not difficult to remove the bumper and grill to get to the relay. It sounds like a big deal but you are talking a half dozen screws and less than a dozen plastic rivets. The act of cutting a hole and working in cramped quarters has to be more difficult and it does not provide as quality a job.

The heater core is embedded in the Plenum Box behind the passenger side glove box. Replacing the core is a tough job. You have to remove the dash panel, including the steering wheel and steering column and then remove the plenum box which involve evacuating the refrigerant system and draining the radiator. Once you get the heater box out, replacing the heater core will take about 10min and then you have to put it all back together and recharge the AC and fill the radiator.

If you are seeing leak problems with the system, you will have to go through this process. If the problem is lack of heat and/or AC control, the problem is more likely the blend door. The temp senor is right next to the upper hose. It is the same one that runs the gauge. Your problem is probably with the cooling fan relay. It is under the front bumper cover, under the right front headlight (passenger). If you remove headlight and cut a 1.5 inch hole you can change relay.

its right on the drivers side on the radiator itself you have from top down trans line, sensor, then lower radiator hose and one more trans line its right above the lower radiator hose
