Millions of people grew up on the music of the Beatles; it was the soundtrack to their youth, and Lennon was like someone they knew personally. He'd also just released a new album (Double Fantasy), after five years away, and was freshly back in the public's eye, so they'd been thinking about him.I clearly remember where I was when I heard Lennon had been killed. Although ( & I didn't know this then) if you listen to the Beatles you can tell the difference between Pauls songs & Johns, it does bear recognition that the music is something different to anything that had preceded it. Lennon was a groundbreaking musician. Lennon had something to say & he said it unequivocally & without reservation. Lennon was a giant, had he lived he would probably be, by now, a colossus in the political life of the world. Peace. The only parallel I can make is the assassination of Gandhi. We were robbed of greatness by a no one of any importance. ( So let the no one stay in prison for the rest of his unworthy days) Peace.

Ono came backstage afterwards, and it was the first time they'd seen each other in months. Someone took a photo, and they treasured it later. They rekindled their marriage, and Lennon moved back in, with their son Sean Lennon born months later. Elton John became Sean's godfather.
