John Lennon sang and wrote the majority of it. Paul McCartney's contribution to the song was the idea was to have the backing vocal mimic what Lennon was to sing right before he sang it. (ex/ Paul & George: "I never neeeeed" John: "I never needed anybody's help in anyway", etc.)
John Lennon sang lead on Help. Really, most of their songs were sang by either John or Paul, and their voices are so different it is pretty easy to distinguish. Their musical tastes were almost opposite also, so there are a lot of songs that you can identify the singer by the style of the song. If you have a copy of the latest remastered CD's, listen to them on a good sound system and see how awesome their vocals were. BEATLES FOREVER!
