I don't recall any member playing in the NFL. However, Mark Farner was a good football player and sustained knee injuries, which focused him on a music career to be less problems than sports. Although, if you saw the 1970 GFR concerts, Marks athletic leaps, struts, hops , vaults, and gallops, it was right up there with a football game, and unlike any other performer of the time.

Grand Funk Railroad
Grand Funk started in 1968-69, and Mark and Don played with The Pack, previously known as Terry Knight and The Pack, before that. In between those two. Mark and Don were furious that the record was released without their consent or awareness of it. Someone made money off of Grand Funk's success. Mark says it was a guy from Michigan. He is not mad at the man now. Mel played bass with ? and the Mysterians before joining Grand Funk Railroad.
Grand Funk Railroad was created in 1968.
