They saw it as a way to ruin his career and his image, it had to be most likely kept quite and hidden as best as possible. Having that pressure to virtually ignore his illness, and appear fine, and do his best to conceal it would bring enormous pressure on him and anyone in his shoes. Whenever the human body is prone to a particular ailment or disease, adding stress to the equation equals a worsen condition of the ailment or disease. Makeup became too time consuming because he would of had to keep reapplying every couple of hours on end, ensuring the media did not get a glimpse of his condition. It became also ridiculous because the makeup became cakey looking. Depigmentation is one of the solutions to treating the physical changes of Vitiligo. Depigmentation is a method that some who suffer from Vitiligo and a method Michael Jackson chose to go through because it takes all the pigmentation out of the skin, making the skin all become cohesive and even in skin tone. He did not bleach his skin to be white, he used the depigmentation method which eventually makes a person look more albino than white if anything. It is safe to say anyone in his shoes or suffering from Vitiligo combined with Lupus would choose the depigmentation method because it gets rid of the Dalmatian look and makes the skin look even in skin tone.
