Gibson Baldwin is an educational series Les Paul Style Guitar. They have some budget features hence the low price, for example "bolt-on neck" instead of "set-in neck". Interestingly, they have the trademark Gibson "Open-book" Headstock design. Usually this design is reserved for Gibson USA models. Not even the Gibson Epiphone series has this style headstock. Made in China however Chinese instruments are gaining a positive reputation, quality from China is improving rapidly and the Gibson Baldwin is good value for the money.
GIBSON > EPIPHONE
Yes because epiphone are made by Gibson. epiphone are cheaper simply because they don't say Gibson.
Epiphone was a company all it's own at one time, owned by a luthier, and named after is son, "Epi." As Epiphone made quality instruments, Gibson purchased the rights to the name, at which point Gibson became responsible for the construction of Epiphone guitars. But, Epiphone makes Epiphone guitars, not Gibson. Gibson is only responsible for providing the materials and the construction regulations. Some would even choose an Epiphone over a Gibson.
Gibson acquired Epiphone in 1957. This purchase allowed Gibson to expand its product line and compete more effectively in the guitar market. Epiphone has since operated as a subsidiary of Gibson, offering a range of affordable instruments alongside Gibson's premium models.

Gibson are far better than epiphone because Gibson bought epiphone to basically use them as a cheaper, not as good quality versions of g the Gibson models. Gibson do not only sound better but are much easier to play. although gibsons are very expenssive (sg=£600-1000 les paul=£1000-5000) i would suggest that if you can afford one, then you should buy one as it will improve your playing as well.

epiphone!
Epiphone is very much similar to Gibson, at a cheaper price. Epiphone is owned by Gibson. Gibson makes Epiphone to give guitarists a Gibson feel, at a lower price, without sacrificing quality. Epiphone has some models of its own that Gibson doesn't, and Epiphone makes guitars with the same basic body shape and with some similar technology, hardware and electrical components. I own two Epiphones and a Les Paul, but I dont see any difference in quality between the two brands. I guess it just depends on sound taste. Gibson has a warmer feel to it, while Epiphone has a sharper sound. So basically think of Epiphone as a little brother of Gibson.
It is better, this is a premium instrument and both are great.
